We are honored that the Burford Theatre is a meaningful part of your life. The support you show by attending our events and being a member is important to us! The “us” we refer to is not just the employees of our theater, members of the board, or the volunteers who make it work—we are also referring to you, our loyal patrons of the Burford, for the Burford Theatre really is your theatre. The programming at the Burford isn’t random; it’s selected because experience has taught us that these are the types of shows and events you want to see.
One of the most often heard comments in the Burford lobby after a show is, “I can’t believe I just saw this performer in Arkansas City!” Since its re-opening in 2016 after a $8 million renovation, the Burford has presented some incredible artists from around the country. These artists love to perform in our beautiful historic theater and sign our historic walls in the green room.
It’s an interesting time for our venue as 26 events/rentals have been cancelled in March and April. This is a direct impact on our income for the year. The Burford is a not-for-profit organization because it cannot earn its entire annual operating budget through ticket sales, and therefore relies on tax-deductible donations to balance its books. And at this time, ticket sales have stopped.
Please help us protect this valuable cultural and educational treasure that contributes so much to the quality of life in Cowley County. 100% of your tax deductible membership contribution will go to support the annual operations of the Burford Theatre.
As a special incentive, all members will be invited to a “members only” Welcome Back event when it is time to gather again.
